Description

The Child Welfare Development project was established in 2008 to work with churches in 4 different communities. However in early 2010 this project was divided into 3 separate projects with the same goals. The projects are responding to the needs of the children through the promotion of child rights, family development, capacity building for the communities and the spiritual strengthening of the people.

Based on discussions with the people in these communities, the main problems are lack of food, low percentage of children in education due to economic pressures, poor health and sanitation, poor crop yields, violence in the families, high unemployment and trafficking.

Project 1: Children's Joy Project, Paothiros village

1. To strengthen the faith and Biblical understanding of Christian children to help shape their lives and transform their families and communities.
2. To enable 38 children who are disadvantaged in the community to have greater opportunities to attend and graduate from primary school.
3. To provide development opportunities for 33 families in the community to improve their living environment by the year 2011-2012
4. To improve health practices and raise awareness of child rights among 280 families and to 200 children in year 2011-2012

Project 2: Hope of Children Project, Bassac village

Project Goals

1. To strengthen the faith and Biblical understanding of Christian children that will help shape their lives and transform their families and communities.
2. Help 27 poor children to continue studying in public school in year 2011-2012
3. To provide supplemental class for 15 children in the community, enabling them to have greater opportunity to attend and graduate primary school in year 2011-2012
   
4. To provide development opportunities for 23 families in the community to improve their living environment by the year 2011-2012
5. To improve health practices and raise awareness of child rights among 480 people.

Project 3: Support for Poor Children Project in Tanor village

1. To strengthen the faith and Biblical understanding of Christian children that will help shape their lives and transform their families and communities.
2. Help 15 poor children to continue studying in public school in year 2011-2012
3. To provide development opportunities  for 30 families in the community to improve their living environment by the year 2011-2012
4. To improve health practices and raise awareness of child rights among 420 people.
