Save the Children Project in Chhong Kork village

I am 15 years old. I live in northwest Cambodia near the Cambodia-Thai border. When I was in grade 5, I quit school. As with many poor families in Cambodia, my parents went to Thailand to find work. They left me behind in the village to care for my younger siblings. A couple years ago, one of the leaders at Chhong Kork church started Save the Children project with the support of Kone Kmeng. I was allowed to participate in the non-formal education program where I learned to read and write Khmer, studied math, learned about hygiene and sanitation and how to take care of our environment. I also learned about God and His love for me. After being in the program for a year, I went back to the public school. I had to repeat grade 5, and I was the top student in the class. In February 2009, I gave my heart to Jesus. I am so happy now. This year I finished studying grade 7 and am still the number one student in the class.
