Introduction
Kone Kmeng began as a bridge between charitable financial donors and those churches in Cambodia that desperately need assistance in their desire to work with children at risk. Over our 4 years of existence, we have been able to focus and develop this idea into an organisation that empowers local churches to meet the needs in their communities, especially those of children. Kone Kmeng’s efforts have grown from several small, temporary outreaches such as moto repair training, Jesus Club for children, nutrition for babies in poor health into projects that are building the local churches through programs such non-formal education, family development, community education and relief and development assistance.
Our impact in transforming the lives of vulnerable children is built, primarily on vision from God and the quality of cooperation between Kone Kmeng and the churches, Kone Kmeng and our donors, and the churches with their communities and local authorities.
To each who has supported our work, through prayer, finances, and advice, we are deeply grateful. The commitment of the Kone Kmeng staff and people in partnership with us is a continual source of hope and promise for the children of Cambodia.
Background
Whilst working in Cambodia with Tearfund in 2000-2005, Glenn and Siobhan Miles decided to use funds given to them by their churches in the UK and USA to provide support for small churches in Cambodia.
Kone Kmeng began its work in June 2005. But it really developed into a national NGO as a result of God's vision to Kone Kmeng’s Director/Co-founder later that fall, in which God clearly called him to direct this work through the vision statement above.
It was registered with the Ministry of Interior of the Royal Government of Cambodia in 2007 to support churches with a heart to reach out to children in their communities. The intended projects are not large projects requiring major funding, but are small projects where small churches are already doing something but need further resources in capacity building and minor funding.
